July 2003

New Heart-New Start Campaign has raised more than GBP 30,000 for a portable heart monitor for the Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Global Web Limited teamed up with the head of the campaign, Mrs Pauline Wakely (pictured centre above) to raise over £10,000 with an on-line auction to raise funds. On the 7th July 2003 Dr Gary Whittington (pictured left above) was thanked at Glasgow Royal Infirmary for his contribution, when the Echocardiography monitor (pictured above) was officially handed over to the transplant unit. Consultant cardiac surgeon Andrew Murday (pictured right above) and National Trust chairman Ronnie Cleland personally thanked Pauline for her efforts.

Mrs Wakely's husband Bill received a heart transplant at the hospital in 1997, which saved his life.

Prizes for the auction were donated from numerous celebrities and organisations, were auctioned over a three month period. donations included items from Eastenders, Coronation Street, Annie Lenox, Lu Lu, Charles Kenedy MP, Skibo Castle and many more items.
